Hanabishi Recca is a high school kid obsessed with ninjas, but what he doesn't know is that he is a descendant of an underground ninja clan, the Hokage, which existed 400 years ago. The Hokage are known and feared for creating elemental weapons that gives its owner unique abilities. Recca, being a chosen one, has a special kind of power -- the ability to create intense heat with his hands. Kage Houshi, a mysterious woman connected to Recca's past, tests his abilities by pitting him against other warriors with elemental weapons. I haven't seen the manga myself but from what I have heard, the anime is prettier. The anime only contains the first half of the manga story. The manga was published weekly in Shonen Sunday Weekly which is "is one of the largest weekly manga magazines in Japan". This is an anime for guys but I like it. It is sort of like Rurouni Kenshin in that it is aimed at boys but girls like it too. It is a ninja related anime but it has love in it too. Flame of Recca hasn't been released in the US in any form but the whole series has been fansubbed so I would look into getting the fansubs. I am glad that the series has been fansubbed because it is a great series that has been largely over looked.
