Synopsis: Rurouni Kenshin takes place in the 1860's in Japan(of course). This is the story of a guy who looked like a girl but was actually a great swordsman (arguably the best in Japan) known as Hitokiri Battousai. He fought for the Ishinshishi and killed a lot of people during the Bakumatsu no Doran, helping to start a new era, Meiji. In order to atone for all the people he had killed he abandoned the killer's sword and became a "korosazu no rurouni," a wanderer sworn never to kill again. He traveled around Japan with no other aim than to protect the innocent and helpless with his sakabatou (reverse blade), a katana with the blunt and sharp edges reversed. Pretty soon Himura Kenshin (remember last names are first) meets up with Kamiya Kaoru, Sagara Sanosuke, and Myojin Yahiko who together form a group/family. This group goes around defeating evil. Rating/Comments:  WOW!!! That is all I have to say about this series. Need you ask why I gave it five stars? This series has a serious theme about it, but I don't think I have ever seen an episode where I did not laugh. This has got to be my personal favorite. It has violence in it, but I think it would be okay for kids to watch. Just be a little careful. The entire series, OVAs, the movie, and the TV series has finally been licensed for US release. It is about time. The 95th episode still hasn't been licensed, though. Now we need the manga.
