  Kaoru is the daughter of the founder of Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu. Its' philosophy is the sword that protects. Kaoru's father died in the war and she was left by herself with the dojo. She was lonely but doing fine until Hiruma Gohei set out to destroy the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu school. He costs her all her students but Kenshin arrives and helps make things better. Kenshin even got her a student, Yahiko. Kaoru is not weak but because Kenshin and Sano are so strong she looks weak. She is very happy with Kenshin, who she falls in love with, and Sano, Yahiko and some other friends. She worries a lot about Kenshin and her worst fear is that he will leave her someday. Kaoru can't cook, something Sano and Yahiko never let her forget, but Kenshin doesn't seem to mind. She is a kind person always willing to leaned a hand, strong, and independent.
